The Security Guard Act of 1992 mandates the training and registration of security officers. The Act also requires that certain security training must be approved and that all security trainers must be certified. Our security school is fully licensed and our trainers are certified.
Armed & Unarmed Security Guard Training
All security officers are required to complete the following:
8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course (Fee $80)
* General introductory course
* Written examination
* Upon successfully completing this course the student is issued a training certificate
* Certificate must accompany the application for a Security Guard Registration Card submitted to the
New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services
* Registration must be renewed every two years
16 Hour On-the-Job Training Course (Fee $120)
* Must complete this course within 90 days of initial employment as a security officer
* Should be relevant to the officer's duties, requirements of the work site, and the needs of the
employer
* written examination
8 Hour Annual In-service Training Course (Fee $80)
* Must be completed each calendar year following completion of the 16 Hour On-the-Job Training
Course
* Designed to meet current training needs and refresh or update officers in changes in the security
field
* Must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of officer registration
In addition, Armed officer applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
*** Possess a valid NYS pistol license pursuant to Penal Law 400.00 ***
The following is not currently taught by us, at this time.
Complete a 47 Hour Firearms Training Course for Security Guards
* 7 hours of classroom instruction
* Written examination
* 40 hours on a firing range followed by weapons qualification
* Upon successfully completing this course the student is issued a training certificate
* Certificate must accompany the application for a Special Armed Guard Registration Card
submitted to the New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services
Complete an 8 Hour Annual In-service Training Course for Armed Security Guards
* Must be completed each calendar year following completion of the 47 Hour Firearms
Training Course for Security Guards
* 3 hours of classroom instruction on the use of force
* Written examination
* 5 hours of weapons qualification which includes a proficiency examination
* Must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of armed guard registration
New York State provides for various exemptions and/or waivers of training based on previous approved law enforcement training. (Fee based on a case by case basis)
This is the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Systems, Approved ink fingerprinting Process.
NYS Certified Fugitive Recovery Team
(Fee based on a case by case basis)
Our Bail Enforcement Agents on this team, are all certified through the New York State Division of Licensing. Each team member is certified by the state to use expandable batons, handcuffs, O.C.A.T./OC-pepper spray, & all have concealed permits. This is a small elite team of specialty selected Approved Bail Enforcement Agents.
